Lady Godiva

This painting is by John Collier, the English Pre-Raphaelite artist. It is of Lady Godiva, an eleventh century Anglo Saxon noblewoman. Legend says that she rode naked through the streets of Coventry as a protest against the heavy taxes imposed on the local populace by her husband, the local lord.

The book that this image is from is one of the favourite books that we own. Each page is a joy.

We had a delicious breakfast today at a cafe called Lantana in Fitzrovia. It was a real treat and to top it all, the coffee was superb! This is a piccolino. Perfect!!

On Saturday we went to see 'Scrapbooks from Africa and Beyond.' A documentary about Peter Beard at the ICA. It was wonderful to see his work coming to life. So inspiring.
